Ethiopian native, DC Metropolitan area raised, Mikael Selassie of MGA Visions LLC. & Ethio Optikx Photography, was always a creative at heart. Coming from a long family of creatives, it was Mikael’s uncle that pushed him to explore the depths of his inner creative reservoirs in his early childhood.
While maintaining a creative spirit, Mikael began developing a hustle and disciplined nature by participating in athletics throughout high school and college. His academic and athletic accolades granted him the honor of being the first in his family to attend college.
College opened up creative aspirations for Mikael. He begun express himself artistically by using his Iphone to take pictures of his friends. His older fraternity brother saw his potential and gifted him a camera, thus propelling Mikael’s creative inhibitions.
From taking photos with his iPhone to an assortment of flagship camera models, Mikael sought to master and reimagine the artistry of photography in order to bring his visions to fruition.
While maintaining a high positive energy on set to bring out the best in his clientele. Mikael has immersed himself in his craft and pridefully affirms that his visual artistry is to be of the highest caliber.
As Mikael continues his journey in photography, he has continued to grow a community of connections starting from his time at Bowie State University to having his work featured in Vogue Japan, House of Delegates, Sheen magazine, Aspire TV, and Ebony Magazine the longest running African American publication in print (73 years),
